| Metro Extra (Rapid Bus Service)
The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) are committed to reducing congestion and parking problems with innovative transportation options for all District residents. Together we have developed a new bus service for Georgia Avenue/7th Street NW with limited stops and unique buses to meet the needs of transit users during rush hours who want a faster bus service between Silver Spring and Archives. The service is called Metro EXTRA and it will provide a time savings of approximately 15 to 20 percent. Metro EXTRA will feature 15 stops; and will complement the 70/71 bus service which will continue to stop at all 54 bus stops along Georgia Avenue/7th Street, NW. This new service begins March 19, 2007.
